What Sweden can do to promote WPS in the UNSC

In June, Sweden was elected for a seat in the UN Security Council for the period 2017-2018. In its role as a member of the council Sweden, as a long-time promoter of the Women, Peace and Security Agenda, has a unique oportunity to push the agenda forward globally.

1325 Policy Group has, in cooperation with international civil society partners, developed a list of ten prioritized areas of action. The aim is, from a civil society perspective, to guide the strategic priorities of the Swedish government during the mandate period. The recommendations can be dowloaded here.

The recommendations have been developed in consultation with the NGO Working Group on Women, Peace, and Security and the Global Network of Women Peacebuilders.
