In just a few days activists, civil society, government representatives, private enterprises, academia, politicians and mebers of the public from the Nordic countries will be heading to Malmö, Sweden for Nordiskt Forum – New Action on Women’s Rights.
The conference is arranged by the women’s rights movements in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden. This regional initiative manifests the determination by this movement to promote women’s and girls empowerment and achieve gender equality. Between June 12th – 15th 2014, roughly 15,000 people will gather to develop new strategies to promote gender equality and end discrimination against women. Discussions will be based on the landmark agreements for women’s rights: the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action (1995), and the Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) (1979).
